You state they can be used for c4, 5, 6 and 9, will they not work with C7?

That was the old standard Christmas light used before the LED. The manufacturer says that the 40-003 should work with all "C" sized bulbs. They suggest that if the bulb is too large, to secure it by the base,  or upside down.
