Alpine Window Balance 1982 ??

Home Owner from La Pine, Or
Hi, We need to replace 6 balances in our manufactured home. The windows were made by Alpine.

I have attached pictures of the parts. Dimensions are on the pictures. The back of the channel is 1/2" wide. The side of the channel is 9/16".

Please let me know if you have replacement parts. We would need the whole thing---channel and top and shoe for all 6.

Thank you
Vonnie

Thanks for posting, Vonnie. Can you confirm the dimensions of your shoe? You note its depth as 1" (in your picture, it's the horizontal measurement), which makes me think it could be our 15-005. However, just by eyeballing it, it looks like it could be thicker. You should also look at our 15-004, which has a depth of 1-3/32". I recommend that you double check your measurement to make sure that it is exactly 1".

If the shoe is the 15-004, then I think you should consider our Series 385 channel balance. If the shoe is our 15-005, then check out our Series 380 instead.

Finally, we do not have any options that corresponds to your stamp of 25 9. Can you give me the weight of your window sash? Is it 34 pounds? I would like you to confirm. That will help us find the best possible option for you.

Hi Tom, Thank you for your reply and for your good eye. We measured the foot again and it looks to us like the foot is 1 2/32" deep. The window sash is 23#. We weighed it 2 ways. Once by itself and once with one of us holding it. Both times it weighed 23#. I'm wondering if the 34# stamped on the channel refers to the pressure of the spring.
Thanks again

Hey, Vonnie. That's entirely possible. I'd rather trust the actual weight of your sash than a stamp I don't recognize!

As for the shoe, I think it's safe to say that it was originally 1-3/32", and has just worn down over time. With that in mind, I recommend that you look at our S385-26 with a 2540 option. Two of these balances with a 2540 option can carry a window sash weight range of 19 through 25 pounds.
