Alternative Hardware to Milgard Thermally Improved Aluminum

Distributor from Los Angeles
Would this hardware replace Milgard aluminum sliding door hardware?
We have many customers that do not like the 'D' handle and are looking for a more contemporary solution.

Thanks for reaching out to us. We're not familiar with the "D" handle you're referring to, unfortunately. Milgard has used various handles over the years. Can you show us some photos of the handle set you're looking to replace?

I'm glad I found this question. I too hate the Millard handles and would like to replace them with lower profile handle/lock systems. Here is a photo of the handle.

I'm sorry to say that we don't sell anything that would fit that description. Your handle set looks like an older version of our 82-080, and while our 82-080 may indeed replace this (assuming the specs match up), they don't sell a low-profile version. The interior handle on this set sticks out 1-3/4". That's about as low as it gets, unfortunately.

You can review our specs below for your convenience.

thanks for your quick response, we don't want a D handle at all, we just want a flat locking handle, as flush to the frame as possible. we want to *replace* the D handle with something like that.

I hate to say it, but I've never seen such a thing. I'm not sure what you're looking for exists. This style of handle set is a very specific design and they don't really have a lot of variations to it, unfortunately. Like I said before, the 80-080 is the absolute lowest profile you're going to hope to see while still being compatible with your door.

I am sorry that we can't offer you anything in accordance to your specifications.
