Aluminum Storm Window Thumb Screw Lift/Keeper

Contractor from Portland, Oregon

Hi Swisco-

First off, thanks for being the amazing window parts resource!

Hopefully you can help me here. I have a customer that is looking for a more safe and secure way for keeping their aluminum single hung lower storm sash up in the open position. The current keeper system is a thumb screw only on the right hand side of the sash. This is not adequate only being on one side. Ss this customer was closing the storm, it let go and came down on her fingers. Bare minimum I would like to add a second thumb screw keeper to the left side and if possible, I would like to find the general category for other types of storm window keeper hardware other than "slide bolts" so I can explore all the options before I have to tell them their due for new replacement storm windows. Can you help? I hope these pictures are not uploading upside down....they are oriented correctly on my end.

Thanks!

Stephen

Hey, Stephen, thank you for your patience while we looked into this! I don't personally have a solution for you, but I'm going to show this to my colleague Dave as soon as he's in. I have a feeling he'll have a couple ideas for you. We'll get back to you as soon as we can, please bear with us just a little longer.

Two items come to mind. Take a look at our 26-275 flip type lock, which is normally used on horizontal sliding windows. Also look at the 26-387 latch which is used normally on double hung window and used as a child safety latch. You may be able to adapt these to suit your needs.
