Andersen 1978 Windows (2842)

A home owner from Massachusetts says:
Hi, I have a home built in 1978. All but two windows are Andersen Narrowline 2842 size. I've replaced balancers two different times. The second time the balancers, which I thought were the correct ones, actually are a little weak and the sashes don't stay up. I need to replace four more balancers (broken strings) but am too lazy to take apart the ones that have the wimpy balancers :)

The old balancers I have saved have the following numbers:

Original: D58 7#27 11/77

1st replacements: 837 K84 8/2 These are also marked 11600R-2 on the bottom (rope side) and 11600B-3 on the top (jamb side) I'm guessing those are just the top & bottom part numbers?

2nd replacements: ??? (they work, just wimpy and I don't want to take the sash apart to verify the number.)

I assume I need the 837 balancers?

Thanks and sorry about the long email.

Paul from SWISCO responded:

I agree, our 24-837 balance box should work well for your Andersen window. This is meant to be used for Narroline 2842 3/8" and 5/8" insulated glass. The 24-939 is used for a more obscure insulated glass while the 24-737 is used for their 1/8" single pane glass.
