Andersen Casement window vintage 1979

Home Owner from Fairport,NY
The "screw" that has one end going into the operator and the other end has concentric bumps which goes into handle which opens and closes Andersen casement window. What is the name of this piece and how can I get one? The windows are Andersen approx 1979. Is one screw likely to fit in different Andersen casement windows? "screw" is approx one inch 1/2 long and 3/8 inch in diameter. In order for it to open and close, to go in opposite directions, does this have to be mounted in the operator or can it be screwed in? How do you prevent it from unscrewing when you close the window?

Hello,

It sounds like you may be referring to the spline that attaches the handle to the operator base. Unfortunately, that part is not intended to be removed and if it is broken, the entire operator assembly would need to be replaced. We'd be happy to look into this for you but we would need to see the entire operator with the window open so that the arms that move the sash are fully visible. Thank you!
