Andersen Window Cord is Visible

Home Owner from Hilliard, Ohio
Hopefully this is a simple fix. LOL Recently noticed that our double-hung Anderson wood window was much easier to open than normal. When the window is completely opened; the cord is visible on the right side of the pane. The window stays open.... when we close the window, the cord disappears in the sash. This is just on the one side. Does this just need to be adjusted? Let me know if you need any numbers. Your wisdom will be appreciated!! Dennis

Hello,

It seems like you may have Andersen sash balances like the assembly shown in our video below. Unforutnately, there is no way to adjust them to our knowledge but if it is not retracting, I'm not sure why your window is easier to open since having one damaged balance would normally make the sash feel heavier. We'd be happy to suggest replacements but we would need to know the numbers stamped on the original balance that is installed in the header of the window. Thank you.

We will definitely get back to you in the spring. We won't be replacing the balances until then. I will send the numbers from the balance at that time. Thank you for your help. Dennis

No problem, we'll be here when you're ready to proceed with the project. Just let us know if you need anything in the meantime.
