Hi,
I have several windows where the string connecting the sash balancer to the sash has broken. My guess is that all of these are original to the house (76). I have attached a photo of one of these devices with the part number displayed. I have tried to locate the correct part but so far have not been able to do so.
I have two questions:
1. Can these be repaired? i.e. can the string be replaced or does the entire unit have to be replaced?
2. If the unit has to be replaced, what is the correct replacement part?
Thanks in Advance

Hello! These cannot be repaired, no. No company I know of will sell you replacement string and I highly advise against trying to replace it, anyway. It's not worth the trouble.
The good news is that we do have a replacement. I recommend the 24-939, which can replace all Andersen balances stamped with "9P27," like your original.
