Dear Swisco,
I'm trying to find the correct replacement balance for my Andersen doublehung window.
The balance has 11600-17 on one side, 11600-A3 on the other, and BD31 / 89 on the end tab. No other number are stamped or inked.
Window is 28.5" wide. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Ralph

Thanks for posting, Ralph! I'm not entirely sure what you may have. If at all possible, could we see a few pictures of your stamps? Maybe if I can see how they're printed on your balance box, I can identify what you need.

Dear Paul,
Sorry for the delay. I've attached some photos of the balance box stampings. The box is just over 6-1/2" long, and just under 3-1/2" wide.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Ralph

Thanks Ralph. Unfortunately, seeing the stamps didn't really help. I don't believe I will be able to use them to identify the needed replacement balance. Therefore, we will need to try something a little different!
To start, please measure the width and height of the visible glass in both the upper and lower sash. Then, we will need to know if it is double pane glass (insulated glass) or single pane glass.
Once you give us this information, we can work from there.

Dear Paul,
Thanks again for trying to solve this one. The top sash is 28-1/2W x 19-7/8H. The bottom is 28-3/8W x 20H. It's a double-pane glass window.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Ralph

Dear Paul,
I've measured the window, but since I have two other windows to do, and I suspect we'll run into the same problem of mystery balance boxes, I'll give you the dimensions of all three. Hope you can recommend something!
(all are double-pane glass)
#1 - both sashes are 28.5"w x 20"h
#2 - both sashes are 32.5"w x 24"h
#3 - both sashes are 40.5"w x 24"h
Thanks again for your help and patience.

Thank for your patience, Ralph. We did the math, and I think I have a few suggestions for you. Keep in mind, however, that these are just our best guesses; without the stamps, it's hard to say for certain what you will need.
For each of your windows, in order, please see:
#1 - 24-737
#2 - 24-939
#3 - 24-1133
Let me know what you think.
