My lock has the same dimission's as your 82-037 but my latching mechanism has a Pin (the picture with the pin to side) that has come off and will not work without the pin because when the door closes the pin pushes in on the lower part of the locking mechanism that allows you to lock you door.
with out the pin in place lock only comes down 1/2 way and then stops and will NOT lock. Your pin is on the opposite side
so does that mean I have to replace both sides (internal) but can keep the outside latch?

Hello and thanks for contacting SWISCO. Yes, you will need to replace both the mortise lock and the keeper, both of which are included in the 82-037; but both are compatible with your old thumb latch.
