Andersen sash drift down

A professional from Cape May, NJ says:

I just installed a pair of 24-939 Andersen sash balances. As you may already know I have been doing more of these with each new year. Slight issue I have not seen before. Top sash drifts down about 1/4 of an inch when you push it to head of window. Its enough so that if you want to lock the window you must push top sash up so you can lock keeper. Any idea what issue maybe? Not sure if customer is even going to have issue with since window is far better than it was. Window had mixed balances in it before I replaced them. Wasn't sure what sash balances to go with so I measured the glass 23 7/8 tall x 32 1/4 wide) and according to Andersen's web site I installed correct parts.

Thanks for all the help in the past.

Hopefully I can help! Based on your glass size, I believe the 24-1033 might be better than the 24-939, despite what was installed originally. What type and thickness of glass is in the window sash? Normally the 24-1033 is used for the older 3/8" thick glass, with the glass seal around the edges of the glass. However, if you have a newer window you could have the thicker 5/8" thick glass, with the metal edge around the glass. If that's the case, then you should go with the 24-1133 box balance.
