Andersen sliding door lock

Home Owner from Bethlehem Pa
I have a 200 series Andersen sliding door panel which opens from left to right. The door does not have a lock from the outside and I would like to install one. Is this possible? if it is, what are the parts that I need to purchase?

Thanks.

Thanks for reaching out to us! The 82-043 Andersen thumb latch comes to mind. We also have the 82-316 keyed lock. The way handing is determined for Andersen doors is based on the operating panel from the outside looking in; so in other words, if the moving door that takes the lock is to your left while you're standing outside, then you want the 82-316. Hopefully that makes sense.

For the lock assembly, see the 82-037 or 82-242. Review the specifications and see which one matches up with your old hardware.

Let us know if you have any questions!

Hello,

I am interested to install the keyed lock on the outside of the sliding door, not the inside. I understand that I need to buy the deadlock Assembly but I am not sure how a keyed lock can fit from the outside. Photos of from the outside were provided with my first email.

Thank you.

The photo you uploaded shows the inside of the door where the 82-043 thumb latch would go. The 82-316 is meant for the outside. May we see a photo of the outside panel?

As requested, please find a photo of the outside panel, the side that I would like to install a key lock.

Thank you in advance for your support.

I don't see why the 82-316 wouldn't work for this application. This part comes with instructions and you will need to drill out the mounting holes for the 82-316 key cylinder. The mounting holes for the key cylinder match up to the holes in the 82-043 thumb turn. The key activates the lock from the outside of the door. The 82-043 thumb turn activates the lock from the inside of the door. If you're not comfortable with the installation, we recommend consulting a local professional for assistance.
