Anderson Sash Balance Part Number?

Home Owner from ohio
The only part number I am able to locate appears to be a faint number 23 indicated in photo 492. This part number is not indicated on your list. I included a photo of the pat# to help identify the part.

Could you please advise me on which part to order. Thanks

Hi there!

Thanks for reaching out to us. I'm afraid we can only make out the numbers "23". This is the sequence of numbers that we need but there should be at least one number before it. If you aren't able to make out any numbers before or after that, we recommend taking a piece of paper, placing it over the balance, and "shade" over the numbers with a pencil. Let us know what you find.

I am sending two new photos. I attempted your suggestion however, the information did not highlight. So I then tried to rub the pencil directly over the numbers. The original case still did not surrendered the needed information clearly. So I removed the second case and used the same exercise to highlight the information needed. It only reviled the number 5 but not connected with the number 23. I hope this will give you the information needed select the parts needed. Thank You.

This is perfect, thank you kindly! Based on the 5 23 number seen here, you can use the 24-531 Andersen sash balance. Take a look at the specifications and let us know if you have any questions.

Hello Emily; Thank you for your assistance. Unfortunately this part is incompatible. Please note in the original photos that there are mounting holes on both sides midway on the box. Mounting is not performed on an end tab. These holes are necessary to accept the trim piece at the top of the window. The section with the pat.# recesses in a channel in the corner. Please re-review and offer a suggestion. Thank You.

Your Andersen window was made before 1980, so the original balance had different holes for installation. Andersen suggests to notch out 5/8" X 3/16" from the top wood header to accept the new style balance. See our related media guide on Andersen installation.
