Anderson picture window glazing bead

Handy Person from Staten Island, NY
Window installed between 1985-1989. The glass dimensions are 67 3/4"L X 43 1/4"H.
This window has Anderson casement windows attached on each side. The problem is the snap in vinyl glazing bead on the picture widow and the snap in strip that goes in between the casement and the picture window are starting to deteriorate. I had to put silicone in some spots to hold it in place and cover pieces that fell out.

I believe 55-306 glazing bead is the one I need. The length you have 68 9/16" is 1/16" longer than what I need, real close. I have added two new photos of the bead off the window for your opinion.

I agree, the 55-306 may be the best option. This has been used on some of Andersen windows. I would just see if the dimensions match up to yours. You might need that extra 1/16". If not, you can always snip it down.

I did go ahead and ordered the 55-306 and they matched up. They are about 1/8" longer on the length of the window and I will need to snip them. Thank you for your help and you site is now in my favorite places.

I forgot to ask. When I removed a piece of the 55-306 it looked like the part that snaps into the channel had glue on it. From what I understood there is no glue required. Is that right?

You are correct, but in some cases I have seen a type of glue or adhesive in the kerf channel. Maybe the kerf was made a little to wide, or the kerf leg on the glazing bead could have run a little on the thin side. I would first try and install the beading without any adhesive. If it seems loose to the point that it would fall out, then I would use a little glue, but only if you need to. You could also consider some clear silicone caulk, but not too much in case you need to remove it in the future.
