My question is there a trick removing the bottom molding to be able to get to the mounting screws.

Removing the trim from the operator can be tricky if it's not something you've ever done before. Since this is Andersen, I'm assuming that we're talking about a wood trim. Can you verify? If so, then the video below will be of some help. This features a Truth brand operator, but if you skip to the :56 mark then you will see how we remove the wood trim. The same principle should apply to an Andersen window.
