Attaching pull mount to wooden sliding door

Question

Please, how and where does the 22-020 pull attach to a wooden sliding door?  My doors are each 36" wide.  How many pulls will I need?

This pull is for replacement only, and is not suitable for new application. It fits into a recess of a Stanley closet door.
