My handle will open my awning window

Handy Person from USA
I have looked at your video on how to replace the operator part for my awning window.
The only problem I have is that my old handle will not open the awning window.
What will happen if I remove the operator - would I be able to push open the awning window since it won't crank open?

I have tried putting on a new handle but it only turns so far and will not open the window and I do not want to force the crank.
Any suggestions?

thank you. Grace - a single woman type handyman.

Thanks for posting, Grace. It sounds like the gearing in the operator is stripped. I would suggest removing the mounting screws in the operator, like you mentioned. With the operator loose, you should be able to push it from the inside. You might need to use a long tool like a screw driver. You should also be able to pull the window open from the outside. With the window opened, see if you can access the end of the link arm so that you can detach it form the window linkage. Once you have the window opened, look our video over again, that should help you out.

Thank you very much for your very helpful reply and instructions - I think now I just may try repairing this - I just did not want to force the window open but after reading your reply, I kind of figured in my mind that I could do what you suggested.

thank you again...
