Awning operator crank mechanism

Question

This piece has backed out of my operator for a couple of awning windows I have.  I have not been able to re-install it and keep it in place.  Is it possible to repair this or is a new operator the only solution?

Thanks for posting. That piece is called the worm gear. I am afraid that when it comes out, that indicates the entire operator has worn down and indeed needs to be replaced. We can help you do this, but we'll need a picture of the entire operator, either out of the window or at least with the window open, with the link arm(s) in full view. From there, we'll try and narrow down what you need.
