Awning operator 1995 Kolbe and Kolbe

Question

The Operator gear is stripped.  The interior part that the handle hooks to is 5 inches wide.  One unusual thing is that there is no easy way to get to the two philips head screws that hold the mechanism in place.  Appears that you need to chisel the bottom of the window frame up to access. Your operator resembles the 39-348, which is used with the 36-078 shoe studs that are sold separately. Take a look and compare the specifications below to your original hardware.

You are also correct that some operators require removing the sill trim, which appears to be the case for your window. See the video below that shown the process of removing the trim.
