My awning window has 2 "bars" that slide along a stable track on the window. The problem part is the right side bar where it becomes disconnected at the elbow hinge and then the window doesn't close all the way. I am guestimating each bar is approx 11 inches but it goes into the frame on the building so am not positive.
Will i need to replace the track as well?

You could need a new window track, but I'm not sure. You might also have a bad operator. To confirm this, I would like for you to disconnect the operator from the window sash. Have someone hold up the window out of the way while you try turning the operator to see if its arms still open and close normally. My suspicion is that there's a problem with the gearing.
If the operator turns fine, though, then next try sliding the shoe stud in the track by hand to see if it hangs up anywhere. That will let us pinpoint exactly where the problem lies.
