Question

Need balance for window. It might be an older metal industries vinyl window. House built around 1998. Plastic center tube with coil spring over it

Thanks for posting. These old rod balances are not made any longer, but we should be able to replace it with one of our tilt window channel balances. We'll need just a little more information to know which. First of all, at the bottom of this balance there should be some kind of hook, clip, or shoe that either connects to a pivot shoe lower down in the window track, or directly to the window sash itself. Can you show us a picture of this attachment? That will identify the exact replacement balance you could use. Second, we will need the length of an undamaged balance rod. Finally, please provide the exact weight of the window sash. From there we should be able to narrow down what you need.
