Balance Replacement HELP

Home Owner from Escondido California

Hi, we need to replace these balances. We just moved into the house. It does seem that the end plastic pieces are different where the hook is in other words different on one from the other. Maybe people before us changed on??? In any event we'd like to replace both but want to be sure we get right part so if you could help us we'd really appreciate it. The inscription on the side has faded off therefore we can't read it. Length metal to metal is 33". See pictures.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks!

Hey there,

Thanks for contacting us! There is a chance we can provide you with the replacement balances you need but I'll need to gather a bit more information to confirm the correct replacements.

To start, it looks like the shoe may be twisted on the bottom of the balance. The "forked" pieces look like they should be sitting flush against the channel. Can you confirm this?

Also, I'll need to see a photo of the pulley system in the center of the balance; I'm specifically looking to see the bracket that both the spring and the string are attached to.

Since the marking from the back of the balance is missing, you'll need to weigh the sash so that we can determine the stamp the balances need. We typically use the stamp to determine the weight range the balances should be able to support.

Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions you might have.

Hi Jasmine,
Thanks for your response, below are the responses to your questions:

Yes, the forked piece appears to have rotated outwardly 90 degrees. Picture below shows visual with forked rotated shoe on the right and what appears to be its proper position on the left additionaly in 2nd picture is included to also show the pulley system and hook closest to the shoe.

3rd picture shows pulley system positioned about 1/3 from the shoes towards the center

Weight of each balence is 12.9 ounces.

Hope this information helps and looking for to hearing from you.

Hi Joann,

The information you've confirmed in perfect, thank you! Your balances can be replaced with either the S351-33 or the S390-33. To determine which of these is the correct replacement, you'll need to confirm the depth measurement of your shoe.

You can select the 3210 stamp option which can support a sash weighing 8 to 13lbs.
