I have two different windows in which I require news spiral balance springs. Both windows use two 29 inch long, 3/8" diameter spiral balances with no color code.
1st sash: weight = 17 lbs
2nd sash: weight = 19 lbs
Should I use S900-29 green or red tip balance?

In your case, either Red or Green could work. If you have no color tips on your old balances to go off of, it would come down to your preference. If I were in your shoes, I'd personally go with a pair of red tip balances for the 17 pound sash and a pair of green tip balances for the 19 pound sash.
