Balance stop?

Question

I think this part (in the photos) that is broken is a Balance Stop? It is in the window itself, at the top, and I think it's supposed to hold the channel balance in place. But because it is damaged, the channel balance sprung past it. Please let me know what this part is - it is 1 1/2" long (or 1 7/16"), and 5/8" wide.

This is similar to our 18-188, which is also 1-7/16" long and 5/8" wide. However there are many other dimensions that play a vital role. I recommend looking over the measurements we show on the 18-188 store page to confirm that it matches up.
