Better-Bilt Nylon vertical window track slides, spiral balances

Handy Person from Scottsdale AZ
I removed both spiral balances and with both I can easily wind them up by hand, so I guess both are shot? Cannot really see a tip color, but possibly are black. Length is 28" and diameter is 3/8". Window sash weight is 16lbs.

The bottom of the spiral balance connects into rectangular plastic/nylon guides built into the vertical tracks. See photos. The left guide slides up and down with zero effort while the right side needs considerable force to move it in either direction up and down the length of the entire track channel. I believe the top of the right nylon guide is split (see photo) and I cannot see how to service/change it if needed. The window came with the house since new in 1997 when I bought it. Can you source a replacement guide for the right side due to the top end being split or does it matter? How can I make it easily move inside the track?

Thank you.

Based on your pictures, I would recommend our 15-045 to start out. Beside the shoes, your description of the balance suggests they may also be worn out. Consider our S900-28 with a Red Tip option. Our 75-006 charging would make the installation easier for both the shoe and balance. See our videos on the right side of this page for more insight.
