Please see the 84-223 screen door latch and pull set to see if this is the hardware you are looking for.

About as close as I have come ... my concern is the pic dimensions say the latch is only 1-1/4" wide .... the door side it sits inside is 2 inch ... the jamb latch section is 1/2" ... so the latch needs to be 1-1/2" wide to engage. Am I thinking about this right?

You might have the older style patio screen door which did take a longer "latch hook". My suggestion is to reuse your existing latch hook. Your longer type is no longer available. It should be compatible with the new style handle; everything seems to be the same otherwise.
