The window crank piece had broken and items from inside the unit are attached and shouldn't be.

Looks like the inside bore came out. That means the gears are stripped, and the whole operator will have to be replaced. I cant tell what you have while it's still installed, but you should start by looking at our 39-031 and 39-032. See how well these compare to your own part.
