Question

I have a few different stamps with the letters that are all reversed.  2830D, 2840D and a 2830E.  The D and E appear identical.  I understand the 30 and 40 differentiate loads.

Thanks for posting! You'll need either the S351-29 or the S390-29 to replace these balance assemblies. To determine the correct series, you'll need to confirm the depth of the bottom shoe.

If the balances were mixed in the window, it would be suggested to confirm the exact sash weight. The balances should always match in the window since they support different weight ranges. A 2830 stamp will support a sash weighing 16 to 23lbs and a 2840 stamp will support 23 to 28lbs.
