Hi, I'm looking to replace the window balances on (14) windows. The house was built around 1998. I do not see a mfg. name on the window or part numbers on the existing balances. Please reveiw photos and provide any help in identifing these balances and suggested replacement balances. See photos. Thank you for your help.

Thanks for your post! The window balance you have here is a discontinued Series 860 Arrow Balance. I'm fairly confident our Series 775 Channel Balances will work as replacements for them, but there are a few details I'll need to gather before we can move forward.
To start, I'll need to know the length of an undamaged balance. This measurement should be taken from tip to tip and should not include the attachment on the bottom.
If you do not have access to an undamaged balance, please confirm the measurement for the height of the visible glass pane in the window (only the glass you can see). You'll also need to obtain the exact weight of the window sash so that we can determine the correct stamp for the balances.
The last piece of information you'll need is the width of the shoe. It should be either 1" or 1-1/4". Take a look at the diagram below for reference.
Thanks for confirming this information. You'll need the S775-28 Channel Balance with a 28C stamp and a 1-1/4" shoe. This stamp will support a sash weighing 18 to 23lbs.
Hi, I just received the (2) balances I ordered and got them installed and everything seems to work. The next step is to replace all of the balances in the house, so I just ordered (24) more balances. However, I just want to take a step backwards with you for a moment, I did find an old balance that's still assembled that I measured. The old balance measures (28") from top to bottom without including the shoe. If I include the shoe it would measure (29") overall. With this new information, please confirm that the 28" series that I ordered is the correct size.
One followup question, what pivot is recommended for the S775-28 Channel Balance with a 28C stamp and 1-1/4" shoe?

I'll need to see a photo of the existing pivot bar to determine the correct replacement. There are a few different types I've seen used with this shoe.
The 28" length would be correct for the balance. The first way described is the correct method for confirming the length of this balance style.
