
Broken Latch for Vinyl Windows

I need advice on replacing the latches for our vinyl windows. Several of the flat metal plates have broken off leaving nothing for the rotating latch to grab. The sliding portion of the window that holds the flat portion of the latch is sealed. Thanks!

Thank you for posting. The flat metal plate is what is known as a keeper. I can't really tell what keeper you have based on these images, though. Would you happen to have one handy that we can look at?

Here is a latch that has not broken.

It's hard to tell when it's still installed. There appears to be much more to it deeper in the window. Until I can see it removed, though, you could consider our 90-283. Check it out and let me know if its dimensions match those of your existing keeper.
