The part that is attached to the base corner just moves freely. Is it suppose to have a runner? It is the same on the top and bottom.

Looks like you need a new hinge. We don't have an exact match for yours, but I believe that our 36-004-10 can be used as a substitute, just so long as you replace the top and bottom at the same time. The video below may also be helpful.
