Broken Sliding Door Handle

Home Owner from Elk Grove, California
Hi,

My slide door handle is broken because of to the two screw holes are too large (Pic 7) due to wear and tear and no longer holding the screw. It is a 4 15/16". I can't identify the part #.

Please help identify the part # and price for this sliding door handle so that I can make an order to replace it.

Thank you,

Thanks for reaching out! Your patio sliding glass door handle set looks like it could be replaced with our 82-080. This is compatible with the 82-238 Double Hook Mortise Lock.

To determine if these replacements will work for you, you'll need to carefully compare the dimensions below to you existing handle set and internal mortise lock. Keep in mind, you will need to remove the mortise lock to confirm the dimensions.

Thank you. I just placed an order for the 82-080 and 82-238.

How do I remove the existing double mortise lock? There are two holes for two screws but the screws were missing. See this attached picture. I tried pushing and pulling it out but was not able to. Any hint on getting it out?

Thank you.

Your door has a certain type of "cover" that runs the entire length of the frame, where the mortise lock is. So, you'll need to start with removing the covering to access the mortise lock.

The cover snaps off of the door so that you can get to the screws and the internal latch. You could use something like a prybar to unsnap it. Be sure to exercise caution when removing this so that you are careful not to crack the vinyl.

You should be aware that the mortise lock is not sold with a fastener (installation screw). So you'll need to purchase one. Our senior experts have confirmed that this mortise lock is compatible with a Flat Head Phillips 3/8" long. 4mm x 10mm x .07pitch fastener. As a generic recommendation, I would suggest starting with part 33-084, however, there is no way to tell if your door may need a different screw.

You best bet would likely be to visit a local hardware store and get an assortment pack of screws.

I hope this helps!

I'm glad to hear that worked out for you! To recommend the replacement rollers needed for your hardware, I'll need to see a photo of the rollers removed from the door.

There are far too many rollers and some of them even have similar designs but different measurements. All of the details about the roller are important for identifying the correct replacement.

Please let me know if you have any questions in the meantime.
