Hello and Good Day.
I have a broken window latch. The ONLY identifier is a very small 'MDC' in the outline of the State of Texas. I wish I knew the brand of the windows but we aren't the first owners of the home. Can you identify this part?

Hello and Good Day.

Thanks for reaching out to us, Bruce. I don't recognize this latch off-hand, but we may have a good replacement for it. Before I recommend anything, I'll need some measurements in order to narrow down the list of possibilities.
To start, I'll require the distance between the two holes, measured center-to-center. I'll also need the backset; this is the measurement from the center of the front hole to the front edge of the housing. Lastly, please tell me the width of the latch altogether. That will ensure I find something that fits.
I unfortunately can't make out your precise dimensions from just a photo of a ruler held up to the part, especially for the dimensions I require. I'll need you to measure this latch as carefully as you can and write the measurements down for me to review.
I'll give you an example from our inventory for what dimensions we need.. See our 26-078. Keep in mind that this part is not a recommendation, just a random example to give you an idea of what we're looking for. The hole to hole measurement is 2-5/16" and the front hole backset is 7/8". In each case, we measure from the center of each hole, not their edges. That's the only way to get an accurate measurement.
