Hi John,
Thanks for posting! I believe our 90-161 Window Lock & Keeper would work to replace the latches on your American Craftsman 8500 windows. To determine if this is the right fit, carefully review and compare the dimensions below. The distance between the installation holes on the lock is 2-1/16", as well.
If these are not a match, I'll need to know your exact dimensions, written out.
