I'm afraid I do not know what balance springs you have based on this information alone. I recommend that you browse through our selection of window balances and balance hardware and see if anything here is a match. If what you have is not listed here, please remove it from the window and take a few pictures for us to see, and we will try our best to research a solution. Thank you!

Attached are a few pictures of the sash spring. If you ignore the metal attachment, then it it 27 1/2" long. Pl. help since we have to get this fixed for a closing this month. Thanks!

Thank you for the images. it definitely looks like a spiral balance. When measuring the length, are you making sure to only measure the plastic tube? Also, concerning your previous measurement of 3/8" for the diameter, is that also from the plastic tube, or did you measure the spring? To determine the correct diameter, you will need to measure it for the outer plastic tube. Let me know!

Thanks for your response! I measured the inside spring, the diameter of which is 3/8" and with the outer plastic tube, it is 7/16". The total length of the plastic tube is 27-1/2".

Great. In that case, I think you might want to consider our Series 600 spiral balance. This has an outer diameter of 5/8" (or 9/16", though it's considered 5/8" in the trade). Check it out and see what you think. Based on your information, I think you might want to consider the 28" long tube.

I looked at those but there is no non-tilt window option with a yellow tip.
The tip of my sash spring looks yellow or it possible that it may have been white but has changed the color over the years. I am ready to order. Pl. suggest. Thanks.

Ah, I see. Could you tell me the weight of your sash? With that in mind, we can suggest an alternative tip color.

The spring weighs 6.5 to 7 ozs.

I'm sorry for the confusion. I need the weight of the sash, not the spring. The sash is the part of the window that holds the glass pane and slides up and down.

The sash weighs 20 lbs and the spring which I ordered was S-600 28" with a diameter 5/8". Unfortunately, it is too wide for the window. Pl. suggest another one. Do you think S-400, 3/8" will work for 20 lbs? Thanks.

Hello there, I had ordered a 5/8" S-600 series for a 20 lb sash and had requested for another width suggestion. I think 3/8" will work fine. Will appreciate a prompt response on the series for 20 lbs sash. We are running out of time. Thanks.

Great, thank you. I recommend the S900-28 spiral balance with a Green Tip. Two of these balances with that color tip can carry a window sash weight of 14 through 26 pounds.
