Looked at customer's windows today. House built in 1938. wooden double hung single pane sashes. I will have to remove a stop to be able to remove the sash and get access to balance.
Bathroom has spring broken and I can poke into the balance but can't pull anything out. Other window has the spring intact with L shaped bracket at end. This window I intend to re attach L bracket.
Bathroom has balance on only one side. When I get sash out I should be able to remove balance assembly and replace spring. Probably I need a new bracket
