Broken coil replacement

Quick Learner from Cambridge, Mass
Hi,
My double hung window is not staying up. It looks like one of the coils may have snapped. I wanted to make sure I'm ordering correct replacement parts.
The window sash weighs about 25 lbs.
From what I can see on the coil - it has number 7 imprint on it.
My other question is do I have to use the tandem or can I just use one pivot housing with coils attached. I have to make the cutouts to remove them and its proving to be rather difficult.
Thanks!

Hello,

We can't be sure with the hardware still installed but your photos resemble the 15-087 housing pivot, which uses the Series 180 coil springs. For a 25-pound sash, you can use one S180-07 and S180-06 on each side. Note that the 15-086 tandem housing is required for the second coil. Take a look and compare the specifications below and the accessories related on our product pages to yours. Thanks for posting!

Thank you for your response.
Does it mean that there should be 1 coil inside 15-087 and 1 coil inside 15-086 when assembling? My current set up has 2 uncovered coils on top of pivot housing and tandem. I don't think there were any inside when I removed one set of them. Unless they're using more than 2 coils per side.

Yes, each coil should be inside of a cover. It's possible that some of your springs may have been installed without them for some reason or they may have broken over time.
