Broken latches - landlord will try to blame me!

Quick Learner from New Jersey

I am moving out in a couple weeks and noticed these latches have been broken / crumbled since I moved in. However, the landlord would love to replace the whole window at my expense, so I would like to fix it. There are no screws to remove to get access to these latches, and the only markings on the entire window are "JDI 2008" written on the metal between the glass panes. If it is not possible to directly replace these latches, is there a latch that I could attach to the window with screws through the plastic housing?

The latches were able to be removed through the side slots in the top rail of the window, which measures 0.8" or 20.3 mm. The latches themselves are 9/16" or 14.3 mm wide and 2 7/8" or 73 mm long fully extended.

The slots in the top rail of the window are 9/16" (14.3 mm) wide and 2 9/16" (65 mm) long.

Thank you!

Hey there,

Thanks for writing in! You window latches look like they can be replaced with our 26-243 and 26-244 Tilt Window Latches. To confirm that these are the correct replacements, be sure to double check the dimensions shown on the diagram below. It sounds like you may be including the "tongue" of the latch in your measurement.
