Broken window balance

Handy Person from Clifton Park, NY
I went to close a window and heard what sounded like a spring snapping sound and I couldn't close it all the way, so I took everything apart and found that the string in the balance had gotten tangled and I didn't want to try prying too hard and risk getting a spring to the face. I found your website and what looks like the replacement part that I need for a Peachtree G2887 (link below). Could you please confirm? I am looking at the 20.4-inch model (9/16 width) with the 19.25-4 option as the sash weighs just over 15 lbs. Please let me know so I can place an order ASAP.

I'd also like to know for future reference if the same part would be used for the following windows in my home:

G2687 - Bathrooms
G2387 - Master Bedroom
G2887 - Bedrooms 2-4
G0987 - Living and Dining rooms

A full replacement parts list would great if possible.

Thank you very much for your assistance.

Hey there!

Thanks for reaching out to us. Our Series 745 indeed looks like a match for your old balance. There should be a stamp printed on the metal channel that indicates what option to select. If there isn't one, you would want the 19.25-4 option if the sash weight falls within the 13 to 17 weight range.

If the windows are the same brand, they likely use the balance. However, the length and stamps would be different if the windows differ in size.
