Broken window balance coil spring

Home Owner from Glen Rock, NJ

Window balance coil spring for an 11.5 pound vinyl window has broken in two at about the halfway point.

The spring is silver in color 0.75 inches in width and looks like it could be an S170.  There are barely readable impressions on the tongue of the spring that appear to be 336 with a letter '"J" below them.  This is a 1999 vintage window and the rest of the hardware matches your photos and the video.

Can you take a look and tell me if I am correct and advise me on the price for this part?

FYI, the windows were made by Certainteed.

Hello,

As long as your coil spring measures 3/4" thick, It looks like you would need the S170-336 replacements. These coils are used with the 15-192 Certainteed pivot shoe. We also offer the 15-156 cover and 15-157 drum. Look over these parts and see what you think. Thanks for posting!
