Broken window balance system

A quick learner from NJ says:
I have a broken balance system in a couple of the windows in our home. Windows are older, but I am trying to fix over replace. The PAT. #5.737.877 is found on the old broken balance system. Is there a part available to fix these windows. I believe this balance system is no longer around. Thank you.

Hello,

The old-style block and tackle balance shown in your photos is no longer available but we do carry modern replacements. Your pivot shoe resembles the 15-152 depending on how the width and thickness compare to yours. If it's a match, you would use the S770 channel balance with a terminal clip that attaches to the pivot shoe.

This is a direct replacement for your balance system but you will need to confirm the length of an undamaged balance, as well as the exact sash weight to follow the chart shown under the balance product description that indicates the strength option you'll need to support the window. Thank you!

Thank you for the information. What is the correct way to measure for the appropriate length?

You would need to remove an undamaged balance from the other side or an identical window to measure the total length of the assembly, only excluding the terminal clip at the end of the pulley, to determine the correct length for your replacement balances.
