Broken window crank

Handy Person from South Yarmouth, MA
I have two identical smaller windows in my bedroom. They are supposed to crank out in a tilt as shown on the photo [this one is working]. The other wondow has the broken crank. Can you identify using the other two pictures [one showing a black part still attached the the cranking mechanism and the second showing the inside of the broken handle]?

I so can you also instruct me how to remove the black prt and then replace with your product?

Hello! It definitely looks like your crank operator handle has broken. See our 39-205, I think this could work well as a replacement. Take note that it has an 11/32" hole diameter; you may want to double check that this matches the hole diameter on your existing handle.

Upon your professional recommendation I purchase a 39-205. It does not fit or work.

Here are the differences between yours [39-205] and mine. Hole width yours 3/8"/10 mm. Mine

I'm afraid your post got cut off, so I don't know what your hole diameter is. However, the hole diameter on our 39-205 is 11/32", not 3/8".

Also, looking at the style of your spline, I still feel confident that the 39-205 should have worked. I recognize your operator and it should be compatible. Can you explain exactly why the 39-205 didn't fit?

Hole was too wide and too deep. Broken crank has a number inside the handle -- 1208. Will this help?

Here's more. My hole width seems to be 9mm. It has no screw. The hole depth is 17mm. The height of the "post" is 16-17mm. Correcting the number inside the handle is 2108!

When I looked up the stamp of 2108, I got the 39-205 as a result each time. Like I said, we see this handle a lot and the 39-205 has worked in each case. I'm shocked it didn't for you. 9mm equates to .354", while 11/32", converted to a decimal, is .343". That's only a hundredths of an inch difference.

I'm afraid we have nothing closer to your size. If the 39-205 didn't work for you, then we have nothing else that will.

I have determined that the 39-205 simply will not work. May I return it for credit? How?

Sure, you can see our return policy here. That should tell you all you need to know to return that part for a refund.

Sorry we couldn't find you a better match! I really don't know why the 39-205 won't work for you. By all evidence I see in this thread, it's the best part for the job.
