Bubble weather stripping

Home Owner from Whitehall, PA 18052

Sir or Madame,

I have a double hung window from which the lower sash bubble seal has ripped from the bottom of the sash. I'm not sure which is the seal you indicate may be the replacement (# 58-171 or # 58-182). I enclose pictures in hopes that you can identify which it may be. The window sash is approx. 40" long and 16 3/8" high, the seal approx. 39 1/2" long The solid vinyl main body is approx. 1/2" wide, the foam filled "Bubble" about 1/4" in diameter, the "T" about 3/8" wide at the head of the "T". Please help, if you can.

Sincerely,

Fred

Hi there, Fred.

I'm afraid your weatherstripping is too damaged to identify and we're not able to confirm if either of these parts are what you have. Is there an identical window in the house with a seal in better condition that we could see?

We also offer samples. Let me know if that's something you'd be interested in. Note, you would just have to pay for shipping.

Mam,

I understand. . . with a little silicone spray, I was able to remove the seal from a similar window and cut the seal in half lengthwise with a razor blade. Now I have several pictures at a closer distance for you to see, with which I have included a ruler for your reference. I was able to slide the two halves back together and reinstall the sash.

I hope this helps to identify the seal I need, thanks for your help.

Thank you for the additional photos! Our 58-171 and 58-182 certainly appear to be our best options now that I see what you have here. I just can't eyeball the size of the T-slot from photos, unfortunately, You're more than welcome to try a sample of each, just let me know!

Mam,

Thanks for your help, going to order # 58-171, since it looks slightly larger than the other number. . . if it turns out too large, we'll just order the other number. Seems like one of these should work, tough to tell by the pictures and diagrams. Thanks for your time.

Sincerely,

Fred
