Busted window balance
Hey there,
Your Atrium window balance is an older, discontinued model. I'm sure we can provide you with the replacements you need to repair the window, but I'll need to see the bottom attachment from the balance to identify it.
You'll also need to find an undamaged balance to confirm its exact length. Unfortunately, you will not be able to get an accurate length from a balance that have become unraveled.
The last piece of information I'll need to know is the exact weight of the sash. This will help to determine the amount of weight the replacement balances will need to support.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions you might have in the meantime.
Appreciate your time on this. Below are the answers to your questions:
1. Sash weight: 16lbs
2. Balance length: 23 inches
3. Photo of bottom attachment.
Please let me know if you need anything else!
Thanks for the additional photos. The balance you have here is a discontinued Arrow balance with a bottom shoe, referred to as a wedge. To replace it, you can the S775-23 Balance.
In regard to the sash weight, if you've rounded the weight up or down, you'll need to confirm the exact weight. The 23B stamp will support a sash weighing 10 to 16lbs; the 23C stamp will support a sash weighing 16 to 21lbs.
Once you've confirmed the stamp, you'll need to confirm the width of your shoe. The measurement should be either 1" or 1-1/4" across the bottom.
Be sure to take a look at the video tutorial tagged below for an idea on how to remove/install these balances.
Okay, great! Since the sash weighs 16.4lbs, the 23C stamp option should work fine for your repair.
You'll need to select the stamp and shoe option when adding the balances to your cart from the website. You'll be able to see these options when you click on either of the provided links in or below this thread.
