Caldwell window balance 28-4 EM

A quick learner from Florida says:

Hi, I spoke with you a couple of weeks ago about replacing some channel balances. I uploaded three pictures of the balance, a Caldwell 28-4 EM. Inside it has a spring and string mechanism.

Thanks,

David

Hey David. I am confident we can help, but can you show me a picture of the bottom nylon fitting as well? We'll do our best to ID this from there.

A quick learner from Florida says:
One on the left is broke. On the right the fitting has a sharp hook to it.

I am afraid it's still difficult to see the whole shoe in these photos. If it lacks tabs, or wings on the side, then you seem to have either an S351-29 or S390-29. The only difference between these two balances is the depth of the bottom nylon shoe, or 'heel-to-toe' measurement, so compare both with your old hardware to see what matches best. For a new stamp option choose 2840.

A quick learner from Florida says:
Thanks! the bottom nylon shoe looks to be 1"x1"x1/2" making it a S351. Both top sash guides are broke. Pictures of shoe and guides are below.

Great! I'm glad to hear that the S351-29 matches.

We sell a ton of top sash guides, so we probably have what you need, but I'll require a picture of the original in order to pick one out. Your balance is compatible with dozens of different kinds.
