Caldwell (winged) Balances

Quick Learner from Poulsbo, WA

I need to replace 3 Caldwell balances. All three the strings malfunctioned.

The(metal)length is 27".

From the picture you can see two of the stamp codes are the same but the third is different. No sure if that makes any difference. The codes are:

Caldwell 26 4 LN

Caldwell 26 4 LN

Caldwell 26 4 GN

Of the two codes LN & GN, would you recommend one over the other?

I can't seem to find balances with those exact codes on-line

Thank you for assisting me on how to order the correct balances.

Hello,

With this combination of attachments, you could have either the S380-27 or S385-27 channel balance. You’ll need to measure as shown below. The Series 380 has a 1" bottom attachment, and the Series 385 has a 1-3/32" attachment.

You'll also need 2640 spring strength options for your replacement balances. Keep in mind that only the 26 4 part of the stamp is relevant to choose the corresponding strength option. The rest is just manufacturer numbers.

Also, please note that we recommend replacing both balances at the same time since replacing one side can create uneven support, which can damage the balances or even the window itself. Thank you and let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.
