Can I put a keyed lock in this handle?
Thanks,
Amanda
Hello, Amanda! You should be able to install a keyed lock on this handle, yes. That round indentation on your exterior handle can be punched out and will allow you to insert something like our 82-310.
Just note that if your door wasn't made to take a key lock, you may find that there's not a lot of room in the door itself to accept one. The key lock is meant to stick a little bit inside the door, but the hole in your door where this happens very likely might be too small. This can be fixed by using a rat tail file.
It could also be perfectly fine, but you won't know until you try to install it. First step is to punch the hole out of the exterior handle, then try installing the lock to see if it fits. If you find that it's too long to fit in the space available, work on filing the hole in the door to be a little larger to accommodate it. That should do the trick.
I'm also happy to advise you further if you had any follow up questions. We're always here to help!
