Can a sliding lock work on a pocket door?

We have a rental house and we want to install a pocket door on our master walk in closet (no where for a swinging door to go) so that when we rent our house, we don't have to "move out". We have room to install a pocket door, but now i need a means of locking that door. I was looking at sliding glass door lock systems, knowing that it will not then fully recess into the wall. that is not a huge problem, but i am looking for a way to lock it. It doesn't have to be bullet proof or high security, just an impediment to stealing our socks and underwear. Do you have a solution you can recommend?

Thanks for contacting us! This is certainly an interesting idea. I'm not sure if anything we carry would work in the capacity you've described, though. I think you might want to contact a locksmith near you. They very well may be able to make something specifically for this pocket door.

I would look into the type of lock used on glass displays.
Or maybe just mount 80-062 on the back frame and drill a hole in the panel..
