Can you identify this window?

Quick Learner from Maryland

I have several windows of this make that have broken cords. Are they repairable and do you have the parts I need.

Thanks,

John

Hello, John. We may be able to assist you, but it depends on what those cords are extending out of. That would be called the balance, but we can't identify it based on the cords alone. We need to see the balance out of the window, which in your case is going to necessitate partial disassembly of the window frame. You have to take those out of the header.

Before we go any further, can you tell me the make of your window? If it's Andersen then we should be able to offer guidance, but if it's any other brand then things become a lot trickier. Let me know.

Don't know the make and can find no manufacturers identification. As I suspected, I'm going to have to dismantle the window to determine the how and if the balance can be repaired or replaced. Looks like a project for next spring.

Thanks for checking, and I'll be in touch come March or April.

I totally understand, John. That's not something I'd want to do in the middle of October either!

Don't hesitate to reach out whenever you're ready to tackle this. We're always here to help. You may also want to watch this video; if you DO have an Andersen window, then this is the proper method of exposing the balance. If it's another brand then we will likely be unable to help, but maybe we can at least point you in the right direction.

Yep...Looks like an Anderson.
Thanks. I'll get back to you in the spring.
