The length is 27 inches not 28. I mistakenly included nylon ends.

Hi there!

We would like to see an image of the inside of the balance’s metal channel, where the innerspring connects to the pulley mechanism; this connection is located in the middle of the channel. Can you also confirm the depth of the shoe and the stamp on the metal channel?

Thank you!

Actual depth of the channel balancer is 5/8 inches

I'm afraid these photos don't show the connection point inside the balance's metal channel. See the image below as a reference for the area of the balance we'd like to see.

While we're at it, can you confirm the stamp on the metal channel?

There should be a stamp printed on the back of the metal channel. If there isn't one, we'll need you to weigh the window sash on a scale to determine the correct stamp option.

As for your balance, it looks like you have either the S380-27 or S385-27 which have 9/16" wide metal channels. The best match will depend on the depth of the bottom shoe so you'll have to measure as shown below.

Looks like 1 and 3 3/2nds of an inch. I will send sash weight on Sunday when I have a scale

Actual weight of sash is 36.4 lbs. I just removed another window and found a number on the balancer. It is 26 4

Thanks so much! Is the window that you removed identical to the one that carries the balances shown in your photos? I ask because the 26-4 stamp is calibrated for a sash weighing 19 to 26 pounds.

If the window sash is 36.4 pounds, you'd want the 2670 stamp option. A pair of balances with this stamp will support a sash weighing 36 to 39 pounds.

Yes it is identical. I have six aluminum windows and I have no problem with them sliding down. Instead I have had to clean and lubricat them to slide more easily.

If you have any concerns about the other windows working properly, we'd recommend you weigh the sashes and compare the weights with our strength rating chart under the balance's product description. Please let us know if you have any questions.
